Cloudsmith’s customers are typically large enterprises who are looking to control, secure, and distribute their software. They have hundreds - if not thousands of developers, complex technology environments, and shifting business objectives.

The Product team’s fundamental role is to continuously ship new products and improvements to the Cloudsmith platform that address - and ideally anticipate our customers’ needs. A key part of this work is to have an organised approach to understanding those needs.

About the Role

As the UX Research Lead on our Product Design team, you will work ahead of our designers, developing and conducting research projects to inform what they do next. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Opportunity identification - Working with product leadership to identify and describe new opportunities and shape broad propositions

  • Developing research projects - planning research projects, asking the right questions, selecting appropriate methods, and getting the right people involved at the right time

  • Executing on research projects - carrying out research quickly and efficiently

  • Communicating insights - sharing the output of your work back to design teams and stakeholders to inform what they do

  • Product evaluation - developing and testing hypotheses, working with product managers to roll out new products and features in a controlled manner, evaluating product metrics

  • Developing research systems and tools - laying down standards methods and tools to get research done efficiently

  • Building self-serve systems - moving us towards a system where anybody in the business can ask “what do we know about X” and get answers without the need to run a project

Minimum Requirements

  • You must live in either the UK or Ireland to be eligible for this role and visa sponsorship is not available at this time

  • 8+ years working on research projects informing digital product development

  • Strong experience using Jobs to be Done Framework or similar to organise research insights into crisp, practical outputs

  • A technical background, or technical knowledge - ability to get beyond high-level technology questions into the nitty gritty

  • A strong research toolkit spanning qualitative and quantitative methods

  • Excellent communication skills; from facts and figures to stories and anecdotes - your research needs to land with designers, engineers, leadership

  • Experience working directly with customers to understand their context, pain points, needs and desires

  • Experience rolling out products via early access programmes / beta testing, and evaluating digital products using analytics

  • Has worked with technology teams to inform their work

  • Can code, use SQL, crunch through some data to figure out what it means - without the need to pull in specialist help
