Cloudsmith’s customers are typically large enterprises who are looking to control, secure, and distribute their software. Our web applications are used by our most senior customers; people overseeing large teams, and selecting the right tools to offer to engineering orgs. Our ability to design excellent web-based solutions for those senior customers is crucial.

We’re building two new and distinct design teams inside Cloudsmith; one focused on our web applications and digital products, the other on our brand. This role sits within the first team, working on the design of web applications.

About the Role

As the UX Prototyping Lead on our Product Design team, you will explore and refine prototypes of possible new products and features. Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Ideation and new product definition: Working with product team to identify and describe emerging product needs; new features, new products

  • Shaping designs: Working with designers to develop the target user experience, and informing the best way to deliver on those experiences.

  • Prototype development: Creating intuitive, efficient, and engaging user interfaces for the browser that can be put in front of customers for testing, and inherited by engineering teams for further development towards launch

  • Early specification: Documenting the prototype; describing what it does, doesn’t do, what data is needed for a future working version

  • Collaboration to production: Working with engineering teams to share knowledge and help them get work into production

Minimum Requirements

  • You must live in either the UK or Ireland to be eligible for this role and visa sponsorship is not available at this time

  • 8+ years working on front-end prototyping projects - with extensive experience in HTML, CSS, JS

  • Some experience developing web applications in React and/or NextJS (3-5 years of experience)

  • Strong understanding of design practice and deliverables; working with design component libraries, design systems, Figma etc.

  • Likes to work fast to deliver a prototype early, prompting discussion and further refinement

  • Has a core toolkit of well-understood tools and technologies, but is open to learning new frameworks and technologies when necessary

  • Loves working in a fast paced environment with lots to learn, and many problems to solve

On a day-to-day basis, most Cloudsmithers work remotely, so we really rely on our online collaboration tools!
