Robotics Software Engineer
Near Space Labs
At Near Space Labs we design, build and operate a fleet of stratospheric robots to image the Earth. We launch our proprietary, balloon-based imaging robots to heights between 40,000 and 60,000 feet. From this vantage point, we capture petabytes of imagery for a variety of use cases.
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Software Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will develop the onboard software of our stratospheric platforms.
Your responsibilities will be to
- Contribute to the C++ software development in our flight vehicle’s onboard computer
- Interface with servomotors, cameras, and other peripherals and sensors
- Design automatic fault detection and recovery algorithms
- Optimize low-level functions
- Flight logs processing and automation using python scripting and APIs.
- Running hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations
- Design and follow test processes
- Coordinate with mechanical and electronics engineers regarding system interdependencies
- Participate in test flights
Location
This is a position for EU nationals or work permit holders based in Barcelona. Remote work possible once a week.
Your Skills
- Proactivity, drive, and ownership
- 4+ years experience in software development for robotics or embedded systems
- C/C++
- Python
- Linux systems
- Git
- Sensors, actuators, and single-board computers
- Knowledge of PCB design is a plus.
